On version 1.20.1-2.0.25.10, using manasteel armor plating to make plate armor is supposed to provide 2 armor toughness. Although the toughness of the resultant armor piece is supposed to be based on the plating that was used, both the manasteel plating and maille provide additional toughness. A piece of plate armor made fully from manasteel will have 4 armor toughness rather than the intended 2.
