Use Yarn Mappings in the Example mod for Fabric.

Why would this feature be useful?

This would be useful because most fabric mods use Yarn Mappings.

This isn't planned. All of the other loaders use Mojang mappings and I'd much prefer consistency. Users are welcome to use whatever mappings they like, I personally won't be changing however.
