Clay doesn't get consumed upon closing GUI

Describe the bug

  1. What did you expect to happen?
    Clay to be consumed on valid recipe creation.
  2. What actually happened instead (i.e. what was the bug)
    The clay balls don't get consumed when I close the GUI with a valid item output and I get to keep the 5 clay and the newly created item.
    Pulling the items out of the GUI will consume the clay appropriately.

To Reproduce
1: Create a clay knapping recipe.
2: Don't take the item out of the GUI, just close it.
3: Watch as the clay is not consumed and the item output is given to you.
