More blades

Feature description
Since some modders and datapackers for Tetra are moving to MIAPI, it would be cool that maybe you add some blades that the other addons had, like Katana, Saber, Rapier and others
How it improves the player experience
More blades would make the game look way more vivid than just greatblade, shortblade, machete
Tetra synergies
It would make it way more customizable and give a more accurate forging scene
More is not always better, because Tetra mod has all the necessary weapons. I just don't see what other types can be added and what functionality will they perform?

Have you even played with the mods referenced, such as Art of Forging? If you had, you would know that Tetra weaponry is drastically improved with variance.
What function? They serve as stat variant weapons with different attack patterns to fit different scenarios. It is simply better to have a polearm class of weapons, always. Currently blunt and close range are represented in melee weapons, but polearms are not. Playing these mods will give you a better idea of how drastically these change how one plays, especially in hardcore modpack scenarios with better AI, harder attack patterns, and more enemy types. We're talking about mods, not Tetra vs Vanilla only.
Reach, speed, damage, armor pen, sweep, and knockback are just some combat stats that can be manipulated. Currently, we don't really have much variance in any of these and the above lists are a way of providing real weapons that fulfill many combinations of those stats that Mickelus may want to emulate. Whether all of them are added or not, it can't be denied that sometimes you want to kill one enemy at range vs twelve right on you. A polearm does that.
And again, I urge you to play with Art of Forging at least. It adds just a few types and the versatility and sensical convenience just makes sense. Tetra does not have every weapon it could and saying such is unimaginative, and for a tool forging mod claiming to offer variants of weapons it only provides two kinds of swords. Slow and fast. Forget polearms, the most used type of weapon in human history.
Adding 40 weapons is not what I'm suggesting, moreover. It's just a list of weaponry fitting 3 categories.
- I played with AoF and it is not balanced at all because it has a rapier that surpasses all types of weapons and is available from the very beginning.
2.The original tetra mod has combat tools with their own abilities, the heads of which can be combined for special synergies.
3.For maximum fine tuning, there are bolts that allow you to change the characteristics of the tools.
4.You can learn more about the situation when you need to hit one enemy from the crowd.
5.There are already pole weapons in mod that can strike from a distance.
First, points 2-5 gloss over major parts of what I've commented. All of them are addressed point blank.
Point 1 is confusing. You didn't like an addon and thus the core mod can't be done better than that? How does that make sense? One weapon in an addon does not mean the core mod can't be made better. You're stating that facilitating multiple playstyles is bad because you had a negative experience once.
Sorry to be so blunt, but you seem dead set on your own playstyle without acknowledging that it isn't harmed. Don't use the added stuff if you don't like it, and better yet, advocate for balance instead of poopooing other peoples' playstyles outright.
No, the point is that in my opinion it's better to deepen the existing weapon mechanics so that playing with a long sword is strikingly different from playing with a spear instead of adding new types of blades that still need to be balanced.
Why didn't you just say that then. Up to now you've been frustratingly dismissive and absolutist with almost no real rhetoric.
I agree that deepening existing mechanics is necessary before adding anything, but I could posit that deepening existing mechanics can include adding variants to fit non-existent niches.
Tetra is not a combat overhaul mod. It's a tool mod. This post is about adding tool heads that allow it to mesh as a combat overhaul without changing the whole theme of the mod. Before Tetra becomes a combat overhaul mod as we both desire, I think it needs variety to allow for a smoother transition into stat building.
Opinions communicated, nothing more to say really.
Seconded. Not being able to update Tetra without losing so much combat customization, especially when using Tetratic Combat for Better Combat, is unfortunate. Polearms and more blade types would be great to see in the base mod.
A list of standard sword blades:
Katana, wakizashi, oodachi (typical japanese swords)
Nail blade rapier, wide blade rapier
Naval cutlass, polish sabre, german hanger (sabres)
cusped falchion, cleaver falchion
longsword; the typical minecraft sword is a bastard sword
Liuyedao, dadao/kandao
A list of standard polearms:
Hookbill
Halberd
Naginata
Guandao
Spear, boar spear, pike
lucerne hammer
glaive
bardiche
lochaber axe
war hammer poleaxe
quarterstaff (capped ends or not)
A list of hammers/spikes
English war hammer
morningstar
spike maul (a tool)
turns out hammers take few designs, they're very simple, a typical warhammer has a spike on one side, option to make a "warpick" when a hammer head is combined with a pickaxe head; if the option to switch modes is added, one mode can stun while the other mode pierces armor but does less flat damage. Could be very neat for PvP and boss fight mods.
These are just some weapons that are most familiar to me. I am especially interested in the polearms and piercing/anti-armor swords. I think top picks from above include the quarterstaff as a base for polearms and the lucerne hammer, glaive, and a basic war spear type weapon. For swords I think the nail blade rapier, katana, oodachi, longsword, and liuyedao, kandao are my picks.
A morning star would be cool, and just giving hammers massive stun when using them would be dope.
