This may be a tad bit too ambitious, but we could consider having a small quest log. I'm thinking of a crossover between the Twilight Forest map and a quest book; on one page, you would have a map that would show nearby points of interest (you have to discover it to see it), and a separate page for quests. Challenges/Story Quests would be 1-time, whereas Tasks would be repeatable (kill 32 Pumpklings). Both could have small rewards (although advancements can do awards as well, just not in an intuitive way). It could also provide us a method of providing a progression system with a small story. "After freeing the locals from the Reaper and his minions, you hear word about a suspicious rolling fog over to the east. It may be best to go investigate. [Reward: 8 Pumpkin Pie]"

Just something to consider.
