Uninstalling the lost cities mod
absoftware opened this issue ยท 8 comments
Is there a way to uninstall the mod and continue playing this world following the newest MineCraft versions? The problem is that we would like to eliminate delay between the newest MC version and our world, but we are depending on Lost Cities mod now. However, when I remove file from mods directory, then we are no longer able to use this world.
Possible duplicate #627
No unfortunatelly this is not possible. You may have some luck in making an actual copy of the generated world but if you can get it to work you'll get ugly chunk boundaries at new chunks
I didn't have a luck when making a copy. It just doesn't start. But if it is possible somehow, then it would be awesome even with ugly chunk boundaries.
On the other hand your mod is awesome as well so the best it would be just to get for example Lost Cities for 1.22 soon. I'm software engineer, so I understand it is time consuming and probably dependent on Forge version. I could contribute maybe. But I haven't tried to onboard myself into MC's mods yet.
Minecraft 1.22 isn't out yet. So hard to make a mod for a Minecraft version that doesn't exist yet :-)
Wow, indeed. I meant 1.21.4 with Pale Garden. I thought update like this deserves 1.22 version ๐ My fault.
FYI, I'm still testing migration from 1.20 to 1.21 and what I got:
Issue one:
- lost cities are no longer generated in my map migrated from 1.20 to 1.21 (new chunks -> no cities), mod is still installed
- but it works for New World with the same mods, in the same launcher (even if I go to
/tp 80000 200 80000
)
But:
- I uninstalled Lost Cities mod and map is still working (first time ever, I added Lithium mod only and updated patch version for NeoForge a bit)
- Cities are cut nicely, because they match chunks ideally, so the result is not so bad... or even nobody notices
I read why NeoForge is preferred now, but we still have issues with the migration, because Forge+OptiFine is way faster than Neo+Sodium+Iris on older computers. So we have also performance issues in 1.21 with NeoForge.
@McJty Upgrading the map from Forge 1.20.1 to NeoForge 1.21 causes that Lost Cities are no longer generated in new chunks. I just copied the world form our online server to local CurseForge app:
But new areas have no Lost Cities. I thought it is caused by some other mods maybe, like Lithium, but I made a test only with Lost Cities mod. My server-config from the world 1.20.1:
#General settings
[profiles]
#Block to put underneath a bed so that it qualifies as a teleporter bed
specialBedBlock = "minecraft:diamond_block"
selectedProfile = "rarecities"
selectedCustomJson = ""
Do you know maybe this issue? Can I activate this mod somehow for migrated map? It works only for new maps on 1.21.
This is complicated. Modded worlds in general don't really transfer well to new Minecraft versions. I'm afraid I can only recommend to start a fresh world
Ok, thank you for the feedback. The assumption of this world is to maintain it as long we can. It has 3 or more years now. We tested new config on Fabric and unfortunately we will abandon Lost Cities mod. We will just generate as much Lost Cities on the map we can in 1.20.1 and migrate to new version. Thank you for your work! I still believe it's better than Trial Chambers ๐๐๐ป
