After going through the portal at least once, dying and then respawning sets the player in the Twilight Forest near the portal they entered through, even if they died in the Overworld. Using a bed resets your spawn to be in the Overworld again.
I think this is caused by the Overworld biomes being present in the dimension. This'll probably be fixed once the actual biomes are implemented again.
