This mod is amazing and it doesn't have any alternatives. However, I don't really understand why exactly ice? I think it would be way better just to shear them like vines without placing any blocks under them and especially ice blocks.

It's so I can check in the code if a crop should grow or not, by checking the block underneath. If I change the functionality, the mod name doesn't really make sense either. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I'd recommend to replace this mod with the one I suggested xD Minecraft itself already has mechanics using scissors for some plants. But the genius Mojang decided not to do it for every kind of crops, idk why. It even sounds more realistic, rational and logical than the placement of the ice block underneath. However, thanks for your answer!
