Range upgrade affects horizontal and diagonal distance but not vertical

Using the mod in the stacia expert modpack version 1.10.8.
When an axe enchanted with teleportation and range 2 is is used to try to teleport to a travel anchor, I am able to travel diagonally upwards 84 blocks away but directly upwards only 34 blocks away.
