-You loose all items when dying in lava. The backpack is burned together with items.- It happens even for netherite, nether or magma backpacks.

We switched from Backpacked mod where there is enchantment for backpack "Fire Resistance". It swims in Lava like netherite armor or tools.

It is related only to empty backpacks.

Basically if backpack holds no data it can be removed like any other item. Custom backpack item entity is created only if there's data in backpack or backpack is at least diamond tier. With this solution, all backpacks that drop from entities in world can be easily removed and they dont create lag, same if someone wants to just get rid of backpack - then backpack without any data can be destroyed easily.

I repeated the test in creative world. Apparently I'm wrong, but it is still strange:

• all backpacks are showing over the lava when there is some item inside
• but if it is empty, then it is burned

It is related to all kind of backpacks.

It is difficult to change habits when switching between similar, but different mods in Minecraft. Backpack from Backpacked mod behaves more natural like any other item in Minecraft. This one is lifted over Lava and magically stays on top over the surface:
