Game crash and uncraftable items

I play on 1.21.4 and the fabric version. When I place the leather backpack on the blacksmithing table along with the iron upgrade, the upgraded backpack does not appear. I also tried to download and install the mod and then craft it from 0 but it didn't work either. As a side note, I also had the roughly enough items mod installed and when I see the recipe for any upgraded bakpack, I only get the leather one.
The crash error wax fixed. It was caused by another mod, but I still can't craft the upgrade
