Add a new config option to drop the backpack like any other item on death.

This would fix a lot of compat with grave mods or other mods that change how items are handled when you die.

Add a new config option like vanillaDeathItem that makes Minecraft handle the item like any other item in your inventory when you die.
Describe alternatives you've considered
You could make this the default behaviour when backPackDeathPlace is set to false
