When trying to craft an item, the same crafting recipe can be occupied by the same item.
(For example, when using the Comforts mod, the white sleeping bags share the same recipe)

There's a little button above the output slot that allows you to cycle what item the crafting recipe will output.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Use the mod Polymorph and use regular crafting tables.

Might be perhaps useful to enable compat with https://modrinth.com/mod/polymorph or make a separate compat mod.

I also have this issue when trying to make compress soul sand from spirit instead of from a compressed blocks mod, as the former is needed for some recipes from spirit.
So I have to go and use a crafting table instead
