  2. Describe the bug
    Infinite item duplication

  3. Write steps to reproduce the bug
    Open Backpack, put an item in the crafting table part of backpack, then put same item in any slot not in the first row and then press sort (middle click) from Simple Inventory Sorter in the backpack.

  4. What is expected behavior
    To either not sort at all or sort it but not duplicate items.

I just removed the inventory sorter mod, but I know a lot of packs and people use it, I tried to make it blacklisted in the config for the sorter mod to see if that would fix it, but that still didn't so I wanted to bring this up to your attention.

well, to sort items in backpack there are special buttons, this is compat issue that probably needs extra work from both sides. I intentionally added sorter to backpack to avoid compatibility issues. Disable the mod
