I've renamed a bunch of materials in my pack and would love to have the option to rename the tinkers materials for those parts

To rename anything in minecraft you'll have to use a resource pack with a lang file to define your alternative name. Renaming something through code is not something you're supposed to do and it's much easier to do it the intended way.
