Maybe create a kind of blowgun with bamboo which you can shoot normal darts or darts with somnifers, tranquillisers and/or poison.
Venom can be extracted from the snakes/tarantulas with an empty glass bottle.
For tranquillisers and sleeping pills you can use vanilla/modded plants, grind them in a mortar to get the powder and use this powder on a potion table to create (together with normal darts) the desired dart.
