Using default settings on a test world with no other worldgen affecting mods:

Most structures spawn about ~1000 blocks away on average.

Lowering the spacing for all structures to 10 while keeping other settings the same:

The locate command can't find most structures (using the same seed as the previous test), with the exception of the underground dungeon.
