I'm building a 1.12.2 modpack for our community and someone suggested this mod. Being in Search and Rescue in Tornado Alley USA, I really like the idea of this mod but I have a few questions.

  1. Block weight - If a tornado hits 2 building, 1 made of wood/sand/wool/etc... and 1 made of cobble/bricks/iron/other modded metals/etc..., would the stronger building survive better? Is it possible to make like a storm shelter out of iron, concrete, or obsidian that you could safely ride out the storm in?
  2. Is it possible to only allow EF1-EF3 tornados? Several of our players saw us talking about this and are interested in the idea of mild storms, but are not interested in the potential of a major EF5 ripping through a town they are building.
  3. Is it possible for admins to trigger a tornado in a certain spot? (i'm picturing a scenario where we have caught someone stealing and they were banned, if their base is far enough away from other's it would be fun to send a tornado tearing through their build

Ok, went ahead and loaded the mod and was able to answer 2 of my questions. I like how it handles wood vs stone buildings. And I also found how to trigger events as an admin which is awesome.
Still curious if it is possible to resrtrict the F4,F5 and C4,C5 storms. I don't think this will be a big issue as the deflector seems to work great, more just curious if that is possible or not. I didn't see anything about it in the configs.

Hi!
Tornados and cyclones will only pick up blocks based on their strength. This option is called strength grabbing and by default is true. This means only wooden items, planks, fences, slabs, glass, leaves, and grass {grass will be turned into dirt} among a few other things will be picked up. You can change this setting. If you go into Weather2 config in the pause menu of the game and click "Advanced options" and scroll to Tornado settings, you can enable a whitelist that picks up the exact blocks you want. just make sure that the whitelist is enabled. As for disabling F4-F5/C4-C5 storms, this is also possible. If you go into Advanced Options and to Storm Settings, scroll down until you see Storm_PercentChanceOf_F4/F5/C4/C5 and set them to 0 That will disable those storms from spawning. You can also change the chance of other storms spawning in that section. I would also suggest making the weather machine uncraftable, that block allows players to spawn in tornados and other storms. You can disable the crafting for that block in Misc Settings, also found in advanced settings.

Let me know if you need any more help!

We've been running the server live now since Friday and we are getting A LOT of positive feedback on it. We ended up not turning off the stronger storms, just lowered the chance of them and that seemed to be a good compromise for our players.

I was also hoping to find a way to set the deflector to not be able to kill storms (basically only allow players to prevent block damage) if a storm is headed for them and although I didn't see that as an option, I did see where we could config how big a storm has to be for the deflector to kill it so I set it to only kill F/C 5's which is close enough to what I was wanting.

So far, our players are LOVING the challenges of the new weather. You have an awesome mod and now that I have went through the configs more, it is clear that you have really thought this all out to design the mod and configs to be very adaptable which as a server admin, I really appreciate! Keep up the great work!!! I do have an an idea for an enhancement but I will do that as a separate thread to keep it split from this.
