hi, when should we expect to get an update for 1.21.8 release directly in modrinth?
i can't just update it myself since im using aternos servers, so i cannot install whatever i want. if you can't grasp that, maybe reread my initial message. i was simply asking for an ETA, not your unsolicited advice
better yet, update it yourself
1.21.8 is way too new. Impatient children dont understand that modding takes time and energy.

skill issue.
Just give em time, or try paying someone to do it for you.
Its really not hard to use alternatives to aternos
the thing is i cannot use any server hosting that is paid and also about the updating, the country i live in isnt like any other country, we dont have international payment at all + heavy sanctions and even if it was possible, given that we have the worst currency in the world, it would not be affordable for anyone and it would be a huge amount of money for anyone in my country (iran) πyikes
Yeah, of course. You can run a minecraft server from any pc, and there are ways to get around port forwarding if you don't want to do it (and if you're hosting just for your friends and aren't authenticating I'd advise against opening it up to the wider internet). I'm not going to provide links for the server downloads because it's safer to tell you to source and verify them yourself but they should be easy to find both for the base server and whatever plugin/mod loader you want. To connect to this server from your friends PC, I'd try something like Tailscale. It would allow anyone who set up your network (up to 5 users and 100 devices for free, you can get around the user limit by sharing an account) to connect to this PC from anywhere just by typing in the hostname or the static IP address it generates without dealing with firewalls or having to defend against outside connections; you can totally just run it without an authentication system at all.
It depends on your needs. Minecraft doesn't use a lot of bandwidth so I don't expect that to be too much of an issue. I have a lot of RAM so I give mine 8gb, but you could likely get away with as little as 2gb or less if your needs are basic and you install mods like ferrite core to reduce the memory usage. CPU usage is marginal for me, if nobody is online it's effectively zero, if there are a lot of entities or chunks to be loaded it might slow stuff down a little, but it's limited to 1 thread anyways. You could try running it to test it and see, it shouldn't take too long to set up a local server and you can inspect its resource usage
