Dying Forests Bug

GitNeto opened this issue · 5 comments

Having the options 'Generate Dying Forests' and/or 'Generate Dying Mixed Forests' disabled seems to cause issues with Maple Forest generation.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Set up a Minecraft world with dying forests generation disabled.
  2. Generate a new world.
  3. Locate areas where maple forests are supposed to generate.
  4. Observe that maple forests are missing or significantly reduced.

Expected Behavior
Maple forests should generate properly and fully, whether Dying Forests are enabled or disabled.

Actual Behaviour
Upon generating a world with said options disabled, areas where maple forests would normally generate seem to be cleared or missing. However, residue of said forest seems to still be present.

This is not a bug and is intended behavior.
Dying Forests extend out the range that Autumnal biomes are allowed to take up. When disabled, autumnal biomes as a whole are pushed back so they don’t improperly cut into area that should no longer be taken up.
The only bug here is Tundras still generating far out, which is simply an oversight.

I suppose, though, one could argue the intended behavior is counterintuitive.

Okay, awesome. Thank you.

Now, my other question would be: since you also mentioned 'counterintuitiveness'.

  • Would you consider adjusting it so that maple forests are still preserved even when Dying Forests are disabled?

I feel like this could help make the behaviour more user friendly for players who disable the setting without expecting the shrinkage of biomes/forests so much, you know?

If not.

  • Would there be any other way to have like my ''wishes'' come true in a sense? Maybe a mod that provides me with what I desire regarding this whole generation thing.

apparently it's the other way around.
so i genuinely have no clue why maples are shrinking.
