WorldEdit 1.9.4 Problems. Help

Downloaded and intalled with forge. It shows up in forge mod list. When i play none of the commands work. Not even /gamemode or any base minecraft commands. Also if i get a wooden axe which is the wand, i can left click blocks and they turn invisible but they are still there and when i right click they show back.
