not sure how this would be done since "random assortment of blocks" isn't a selection type, unless the line is orthagonal.

Oh, I just thought it was possible to get the blocks that were placed in the operation and select those. I can't talk much about the WorldEdit internals, though, so I don't know. Thanks though!
