Set selector based on region type in Clipboard

The Problem
Currently the region data is lost when pasting from a Clipboard and using -s/-n. It would be better to keep it, and have a more general solution to handling //sel extend.
A Solution
Add and use a new API for converting an existing selector to a new selector based on a region.
