Border-to-air selection

Feature request for border-to-air selection. Say you have an event area/arena that you want to backup or you just want to copy an area without carrying along all the heavy ground and dirt.
You select a cuboid from which you want to copy. You do the border-to-air(working title) selection command and WorldEdit traverses all blocks and deselects all that are not surface blocks (don't touch air => invisible anyways). An argument could extend the allowed distance to air (so there needs to be air within 2 blocks of a block to remain selected).
For a large selection cuboid this would reduce the selection to the surface cubes only.
