Show current selection cuboid temporarily

It'd be nice if there was a command we could use to show the selected area, albeit briefly, for example by drawing around the selection area with glass blocks (just the edges, not the faces).
A lot of fiddly adjustments to the selection area could be avoided if we could quickly see where it was (without having to //set 1 //undo repeatedly, for example).
The block queue/history in WorldEdit is pretty good for blocks inside the region, but say you have a block on the side of the region -- it may drop the item (such as a torch), and so it would not be a good idea.
It'd be great if someone wrote a client-side modification to show a visual outline of the region.
