I thought I finally found a fix for this issue but nobody cares about 1.12.2 anymore :(
I understand why, 1.12.2 is considered abandoned at this point. Many players such as me cannot update to newer versions.
Could you please make just one backport for 1.12.2? I doubt Xaero themselves would fix the issue, since 1.12.2 is abandoned.

xaero's minimap for 1.12.2 is still being updated. please make an issue on xaero's issue tracker as i'd like to stop maintaining this mod, let alone port it to different versions.
