Easy way to recreate is trying to make a gunpowder block

I only ever get the charm block.. are there any other details you can give me?

It glitches out when you use crafting station, but on crafting table it works fine, I had this problem when crafting enderchest and was able to craft it using vanilla crafting table - there was a button to switch crafted item.
