i cant change the gui scale, i just downloaded the pack and the sprint set to toggled doesnt work either,

This can also occur with forge modpacks. There are are two ways around it, my favourite being just left and right clicking on and around that slider like crazy. The other way is to edit options.txt add guiScale=3.
