This is either the case, or the growth speed of my first crop - Inferium seed, is insanely slow and cannot be sped up using the watering cans supplied by MA. At least in the very early game

As an extension to this, the crops themselves do seem to grow faster on vanilla farmland over inferium and now prudentium farmland. Made even faster with the Red Fertilizer from Farming for Blockheads
