What happened?

I have made the auto-heph-forge, it has 9 item input hatches, 4 fluid hatches, 4 power hatches. I had the controller auto-build it for me, lifesaving feature. But when I try to craft something it tells me in the controller that it cannot find an item output. I cannot for the life of me figure out where to put it, try to swap any of the existing (aforementioned) hatches and the multi block does not rebuild, try to put output hatch anywhere adjoining the multi block, it doesn't join the multi block.
So I can only make the thing form without an item output yet it refuses to function without an item output.
Im not sure if its a bug in the pack or in my brain, maybe others had no problem..?

update. I went back and swapped one of the power inputs for a tiny item output and it worked. Feel so silly..
case closed.
