[Crash]: Server kicking users after a player put a Nether drop into a filter for a trash can

What happened?

I was not online at the time and there aren't any useful server logs. What happened is a player of my server "put a nether drop into a filter for a trash can ... By fat fingering it", his words, and caused everyone to get disconnected from the server with a "Network Protocol Error" message every time they try to connect. It will let them attempt to sign in, then immediately kick. The server continues on like normal, but doesn't let anyone connect. Possible something he did created a sort of chunk-ban situation?

I had to roll back to a backup in order to fix it. Not an ideal solution, but everyone playing it knows stuff like this can happen.

Happened again today. Here's an account from the player:

No problem, I'll give you a very detailed write up when I can see the exact mod for sure, I want to say it is "trash cans" mod.

It has a spot to drag and drop trash, and below it, a line of empty boxes that you can drop an item on it. When you left click an item on the empty filter boxes, it creates the error, and crashes the server. This is for the item trash can. I haven't tried using the other types of cans.

It is not just nether drops either. appears to be any item. also only appears to be players actively loading the chunk with the trash can based on own experience.

Edit
This issue is also only on server's from testing

Can confirm this issue has happened to 3 different folks on my server, placed an item into the trashcan filter slot and immediate disconnect with no recourse unless I edit the trashcan out of the world.
