What happened?

Playing with the MineColonies mod and had a bunch of Small Spruce Sapling's from the Mama's MarryMaking mod filling up my warehouse, since its a sapling I was hoping I could compost it in the MineColonies Compost Barrel in the Composter's Hut like any other sapling but its not in the list and even the vanilla Composter doesn't accept this sapling. is this a bug or by design
