What happened?

For some reason last night it was working fine but after updating a few mods (because they needed to be updated) loading up my world or even creating a world soft crashes the game. when it soft crashes it doesn't close the client it just stops responding, and i know it soft crashes because loading the world would take about a minute or 2 but leaving it "loading" for longer does nothing and after checking the logs it just give me a "stopping server" (even though it's singleplayer). i always give my game about 8gigs max ram so it's not really a memory issue. before anyone asks my specs are what you'd expect out of a very expensive totally did not use all my money in the bank PC.

also irrelevant to this post but i wanted to post it here to knock 2 birds, there is a bug where every now and then the inventory ui's end up turning black and it's a bit annoying.

Edit:
so far what i had to do to fix this was unistalling the modpack and reinstall a fresh one then copy over my backup. for some reason updating some of the mods cause current AND new worlds to stop loading and soft crash, at lease that's what i surmise.
