Modpack Version

4.14

Describe the issue

Version: All The Mods 10 (ATM10) V4.14
Dimension: The Other
Entity: Bee Bee

Description

While exploring The Other dimension, I encountered an entity named Bee Bee that instantly killed my character and completely destroyed all my equipped gear after a single sting.

After asking in the official Discord, I was told that this behavior is considered “normal,” but I strongly believe this might be a bug or oversight rather than an intended feature.

Expected Behavior

If the Bee Bee is meant to be dangerous, it should deal significant damage — but not instantly kill a player wearing max-tier armor and not completely delete or break gear that has mending and full enchantments.

Actual Behavior

  • The Bee Bee’s sting instantly kills the player, regardless of armor protection or health.
  • The sting also completely destroys all armor and items worn, including fully enchanted and gem-enhanced Supremium gear.
  • I had 5 full rows of hearts and 3 rows of armor protection, yet was killed instantly.
  • My Supremium set (with Mending, Godforged tier upgrades, and maxed gems) was completely broken after one hit.

Why This Feels Like a Bug

Even in high-risk dimensions, losing a full maxed-out set instantly feels out of balance — especially when there’s no prior warning, lore entry, or tooltip about the Bee Bee’s behavior.
If intentional, I’d suggest adding:

  • A warning tooltip or advancement hint about this mob.
  • Or rebalancing its damage output to avoid instant, unavoidable deaths and full gear destruction.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Enter The Other dimension.
  2. Encounter a Bee Bee.
  3. Allow it to sting you once while wearing Supremium or similarly high-tier armor.
  4. Observe instant death and full equipment breakage.

Additional Notes

This feels more like an oversight or scaling issue with the Bee Bee’s damage formula rather than an intended hardcore mechanic.
If intentional, some player-facing information or a countermeasure (like a potion or item) would make it feel fairer.

i believe the issue is the "attack" which has an E in the line rather then just digits

commented

Oof, that's basically inf dmg. no matter what gear you have. This must be an oversight/typo. Otherwise, even the best gear would simply break when this bee tickles you.

commented

Exactly.
I have reported it to the mod repo because it is from the mod not ATM team. hopefully they can fix it.

I believe this isn't a bug but a feature.
The damage is explicitly set. The E inside the is to move the decimal places.
The actual number would be 2.147.483.647 and is the integer max value.
The mod has a bee nest helmet making all bees peaceful towards the player.

We will see what the mod author says but honestly if it is intentional i will be editing or removing the beebees. That is to powerful. I don't want to spend an hour making armour for it to be broken in 0.000001 secs when a bee hits me from behind.

I have also been killed by one well wearing the helmet. On my person. Not even in the curio slot.

I must admit, it kinda killed the mood a bit to continue when it happened. Had spent quite some time in the gearset, let alone the gems and enchantments. I do understand that we need more than 1 gearset, just in case, as it's still a danger to go on an adventure, but this setting would also break any other gearset, including those deemed to be the "most powerful" in just a fraction of a second.

If there is such a helmet, then I would really like to know this beforehand. A questline after entering the "The other" Dimension would satisfy enough that the danger of certain mobs is present, with a side tip of using the charms of twillight to ensure you stay at least alive when a bee comes around the corner to ruin the day.

I’ve lost two set of supremium armor to them, yet taken multiple hits to vibranium armor just fine. Yes, I pop a death protector (blue heart or poppet) each time, but I don’t lose the vibranium armor that is objectively worse than the supremium armor.

This really feels like it’s a result of two mods making different assumptions than intentional design. Again, the death is a little annoying, but nowhere near as annoying as a mob destroying potentially hours of work with zero opportunity to prevent it.

To add one more thought: is this actually a bug in mystical agriculture? Supremium armor is supposed to be unbreakable, isn’t it? Why is it breaking? Getting killed with no warning is annoying, but there are a lot of ways to skip death in ATM. For a dimension like The Other, that might be reasonable.

am not the mod author, but one of the devs who was paying attention during development, yes the beebee does one shot you, this was a thing in ATM6 as well but it was called BeeDiddy back then. The only armor set you stand a chance in currently is the top tier MI gear, it will give you an onscreen warning that the gear cannot handle it, and you usually only survive a couple of pokes. the Beehaviour is intended

Normally no, but that's a setting in the config that you could flip over to make them unbreakable.

the Beehaviour is intended

I hope not. Several players encountered this bee. They ragequitted and played something else as they had lost their entire gear and progress to get there. For one person, it might not be a big deal, but for another, it can be.

I stand with my bug report. This issue needs to be resolved.

I agree with you: That is of course very frustrating.

Same goes for many different things in this modpack.
For example, if you encounter the Chaos Guardian unprepared and are simply obliterated.

One thing should be made clear: This is not a bug. It is intended by the modpack/mod creator/s.
It is perfectly understandable and you are welcome to make suggestions for improvement, but it is simply not a bug.
That is factually incorrect.
