The jetpack attachment plate required to turn armors into jetpacks require iridium shards, but iridium ore is processed into thermal foundation infots, and no way to make the shards.

Are the shard intended to be a dungeon loot only ?

Shards always were dungeon-only loot afaik, but ic2 replicator should be able to dupe them.
