When opening the game for LAN, if my playmate joins my game when we are together he experiences high lag stuttering.
Every 1-2 seconds his game stops for another second.

The interesting details are:

• main character never experience any lag
• joiner experiences lag ONLY when a few chunks around the main character
• most dimensions are affected but not all. For instance the mining dimension is smooth
• I tried dropping everything from my inventory, but changes nothing
• all this started to happen during mid summer, so it is an older and recurring problem
