Having problems connecting to online server, getting various disconnect messages

I have been playing on a friends ATM9 server with little to no issue. Though when we updated to version 2.31 i became unable to join and ended up getting disconnected with varying reasons given after maybe a fraction of a second of being connected to the friends server.
We tried teleporting me away and clearing my player data but none of it helped.
The most common disconnect messages i got where:
- Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.util.zip.DataFormatException: incorrect header check
- Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.CorruptedFrameException: length wider than 21-bit
- Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: Packet 0/83 (ClientboundSetentityLinkPacket) was larger then I expected, found 95 bytes extra
We also checked the console of the server but all we get there is that it sees me connect and then disconnect.
After us being unable to find why this happens we decided to roll back to version 2.23 of the pack which was fine before but then had identical results.
We also had me load up the server's world in my single player which seemed to run just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be the cause of this or how to fix/mitigate this?
Here are some logs in case they are helpful:
