What happened?

First time playing a newer minecraft version in forever (last version played was 1.12.2), Found a tower with a giant gear on the side and a bunch of animals (zebras and lions), then the game crashed. Specifically, I came off my boat, jumped a couple blocks up towards the tower, turned to look at the lion because I was unsure if it's one of those passive mobs that will attack the player if it's hungry, then crashed.

Could not log back in, so I repaired first and it didn't work. Then I reinstalled, first testing an old save (~20 min prior to crash) and I can load in. Retried the original save and it crashed upon log in. Logs are from that crash as I completely forgot to save the original logs.

Just tried the back up and now I can't log into that either.

Edit: I can only play the back up file for about 2 minutes before it crashes.
