So when i want to craft a gregtech rod or plate or gear from a gregtech material it has a crafting recipe and you can use for example an extruder or lathe or cutter for rods, but if it is a material from alltheores, they don't have a recipe in gregtech machines and some of this gears and rods and plates are used in recipes for gregtech.
