Same issue here. Seems to be something up with:

I am local using MultiMC installed via CurseForge, Java 17.0.1

downgrading to java 15 fixed this issue for me

Changing to CurseForge launcher fixed this for me

Downgrading my java version has fixed this issue for me

I downgraded my java version already. I had to manually replace the scripts in the mods folder to fix it.
