[Bug Report]: Holding shift while hovering over something in EMI causes the game to hang

Describe your issue.
It doesn't always happen but happens enough to make me think twice about using the shift key while looking EMI (JEI?). The game hangs. I let it sit for probably an hour one time and nothing happened. If I start clicking on the screen or hitting Esc it will eventually prompt me to Close the application or to continue waiting. Since I'm killing the game, no crash report is generated.

I was having the problem before this, but I created a very small data pack to add a recipe. The recipe is to covert a simple storage barrel to a sophisticated barrel. Early in my playthrough. I had a hard time telling the difference between the two.
Did the issue happen in singleplayer or on a server?

there are known issues with ars and pneumaticraft
there may be others. this has been known for quite a long time now and the pack devs are aware
probably good for it to be tracked somewhere, anyway. Thank you for the report
