Managed to get one crash report after fiddling with settings, but unable to launch the pack as it is currently. As I keep my java installations up to date due to security concerns and the likes, telling me to downgrade java is counterintuitive. I see there are several other issues in this repository speaking of this, but would like to see an official response from the maintainer of the pack on this issue.

Seems like you need to download and use curseforge launcher, which will automatically download java8 version

I was using curseforge launcher, it did not work, just crashed and said something like "cannot find display port"

That sucks to hear. I am on windows and fortunately the curseforge lanucher did work for me.

You can change java version in prism launcher, this isn't an issue with the mod. Right click the mod, go to "edit", then "settings" and you should be in the "java" window by default. Click the box next to "java installation" to set a specific java version for the mod, then use auto-detect which should find your java 8 installation. If you don't have one I'd recommend get it from eclipse adoptium and just running their installer.

Done that. Recent versions of Java 8 doesn't like the version of forge running the pack. I was able to get the pack to run on my install of Java 8 by manually updating forge itself.
