What happened?

I was just on my way back to my death location in a singleplayer world, when i ended up picking up something off the ground. It was some material you get from stripping logs. I just tossed it back on the ground cause it was clutter and it ended up crashing my entire game; ive had a few in the past that i just ignored for the most part and re-launched my game, but now im not even able to join my world anymore.
