Crash while using JEI?

Modpack version:
2.1.1

Java version:
8 Update 291

Description:
I was typing in JEI and it just crashed.

When did the crash happen?
During gameplay in the inventory

Steps to reproduce:
Ngl, it takes so long to load that I'm trying to avoid the crash.

Minecraft crash report:
Edited by WaitingIdly to move the crash report from text to paste.ee: https://paste.ee/p/gdwQ3
As a note, pastebin doesn't seem to like log reports, it kept deleting it when I tried to do this one. Edited by WaitingIdly to explain the reason: Pastebin auto-deletes pastes that it believes are encryptyed - doesnt matter what they really are, and your paste appears to have tripped that limit. Use https://paste.ee (remember to set expiration to NEVER)

How much RAM did you dedicate to your client and how much RAM does your PC have?
I dedicated 8G and I have 16G

Oh, you said you have 1.8 v 292 installed. Please upload your latest.log from before the crash happened. I'd like to look at that if possible

Hi Merthew! While I don't see anything that could explain what exactly is going on, some basic searching has lead me to the conclusion that your java version might be the problem. According to the log you included, you are running Java 1.8.0_51-b16.
It's a good thing to update your java version, so you might as well do it. Once you have that updated, please try to repeat it and get back to us.

I think that is the right latest.log file, it was the only one I saw

Do you have any compressed files in that folder? This log doesn't show much, besides confirming that your java install is dated. If you would like to continue this on discord I think it'll be easier. thecodingchicken#4835 on discord

However, I'll look at it in the morning. I need to get a few hours of sleep now.

It hasn't happened again but if it does I will let you know. I will also try updating Java though that shouldn't be that big of a deal since I am only one update behind.

Upgrading java isn't the problem. Minecraft is still going to use it's old version. In your log, it says this:
[23:11:21] [main/INFO]: Java is Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM, version 1.8.0_51, running on Windows 10:amd64:10.0, installed at D:\Games\Minecraft\Install\runtime\jre-legacy\windows-x64\jre-legacy

I assume you're using the curseforge launcher. I have no personal experience using it, and I recommend MultiMC. I'll get back to you tomorrow.

I have curseforge set up to use the 1.8.0.0291 version:

But I guess that didn't get set?
My Java arguments are:

-XX:+UseG1GC -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=2147483646 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M

Curseforge has a known bug related to Java version: it ignores the java version it is set to use, and forces you to use a specific and very outdated Java version. I do not use Curseforge, but I have been told by many people who used it that there is no way to fix this.
In conclusion: Try an alternative like MultiMC

Merthew, did using a different launcher resolve your issue?
If it did, you might want to close this issue.

I didn't change launchers but I also haven't had it crash again yet so yeah, I'll go ahead and close the issue.
