FPS lag and personal crafting grid broken

Version 1.46

Description - There are occasional lag spikes, general low FPS, as well as the personal 2x2 crafting grid sometimes "forgets" recipes. I've also seen where it appears that crops are missing on farmland, but when I go to replant, the crop appears, then vanishes, as well as the item in my hand. Reloading fixes this (items re-appear in my hand), and the crafting grid issue. This seems random, so I really can't reproduce it.

Here's the log of my current gaming session (I noticed the lag spikes just recently, so they're towards the bottom of the log).
latest.log

I'm getting a constant 50-60 fps, with the FPS meter showing many red/yellow spikes.

Also, I just noticed after taking the last screenshot, if I switch windows, the lag spikes are off the chart. So, I don't know if this is something wrong with the pack, or my PC (which is 7 years old at this point - 2600k for life!). The latter being why I think the game not syncing could possibly be something like memory failing?

Specs are in the above screenshot.
i7 2600k
ASRock z77 Extreme4 motherboard
16 Gigs RAM (about 12 Gigs allocated to Minecraft)
GTX 1070 video card
Game folder currently resides on a HD (I do have a SSD, but I'm not sure if I trust Minecraft mods and modpacks on it, but that's another story).

Unfocusing the Minecraft window triggers the mod "FPS Reducer" which drastically lowers FPS and other things to reduce power usage of the PC.

You should never allocate any more than 8GB of RAM to the client.

You're using Java 1.8_51, which is very outdated. I recommend that you switch to "Jar Launcher" in Twitch. You can find the setting under Settings > Minecraft

That should remedy the majority of your issues :)

I can confirm that the 2x2 crafting grid in the inventory sometimes “forgets” ALL recipes and you have to relog to fix. Not super painful but annoying regardless.

commented

Well damn. You wouldn't happen to be using Native Launcher aswell would you @FunkyMoneyMan?

commented

Please let me know whether your issues have been resolved when possible OP :)

No I use the twitch launcher @NillerMedDild. I get the glitch regardless what I use.

commented

Ok, I'm testing it now for a bit, but I'll be able to take a look more tomorrow evening. I was using the Twitch launcher before.
EDIT: Ok, it decided to install update 65 (seems it wants to use an old dev kit...) instead of 191... so I'm reinstalling it.

Still getting low FPS -

EDIT: Discovered vsync was on by default. I turned this off (vbo's is already on), and the fps improved.

I'm also getting double-text, too.

But, I did notice before that the crafting grid would break after using the Part Builder to make a bunch of tough tool rods. The game would lag slightly. It hasn't done that yet, but I've only been playing for 5 minutes...

Update java and put in the mod folder the optifine mod. I make 100+ fps with a 960M hahah

commented

@SuperFurias Do not tell people to install Optifine.

commented

Can you disable FoamFix and tell me if the problem still occurs?

commented

Would you mind giving a recap of what your current situation is? How is your FPS, is the 2x2 Crafting fixed?

commented

I'm still seeing lag spikes without foamfix. This was within a minute of loading the save. The FPS does seem to fluctuate a bit more (generally a bit worse)

That's a known and reported issue. Updating fixes it.

I've upgraded to version 49, and still get the occasional lag spike. I haven't seen the recipe issue yet (although I updated the RandomPatches mod before v49, so maybe that fixed something?).

Alright, I will close this for the time being.

Yeah they can be quite taxing.

One other thing I've noticed (and it could've been what was causing it) - I found a dragon nest below my base, and haven't really noticed the first lag spike 30 seconds into the game. I also have mob-griefing turned off, too. I know I've had lag issues in the past with mods like Fire & Ice, Recurrent Complex, and Rogue-like Dungeons. Other than the game being super-laggy and taking a long time to load up the world when it first starts (seems normal with large modpacks, anyway...), I haven't noticed anything too bad after updating that one mod and clearing out the dragon nest below my base.
