Lack of JEI info for bees

New 0.4.10 many bees are no longer found in wild with compass but must be bread or mutate eggs. Cool change. But I see no way to get wither bee with new config. Need wither bee to make wither bee egg.

This issue is currently blocked; I'm currently keeping an eye on: Team-Resourceful/ResourcefulBees#240

Talking to @MaxNeedsSnacks it seems like there's some under the hood stuff with IDs that is preventing this from working; it also may be resolved by RB adding "lore" fields to the bees that will be reflected in JEI.

what i see is to progress the eggs you need capturing and kill lots of bees to get the starting egg to begin the mutaions up to wither? looking at egg chain, bottom for wither is beeper bee egg. and only way to get is luck with capturing enchantment? or am i missing a progression chain? so i got the beeper egg using mob duplication and capturing v, but when i put egg on ground in room full of blaze bees it wont mutate.

commented

Im pretty sure you just need the actual bee's not the eggs to get mutation. I have ghast bee's in apiary now after putting blaze + beeper in there.

For nether bees, in this example, you need the bees themselves, not the spawn eggs. Once you have two of a bee you can breed them together, and then you'll use one bee to mutate another. If you look in the beepedia it makes it a bit clearer. I'm also posting a chart below that may make more sense:

ok this been driving me nuts. because i know diamond bee and lead ore made a egg from mutation. so using jei it looked like you needed egg and was confusing me. ill give it a try, putting beepers in with blaze bees. thanks (yep that was the solution)

@wolfdances Alloy bee mutations should follow the diagram below. Diamond bees will mutate an ender honeycomb block into an enderium bee egg.

I do plan to make these charts available publicly, once they're done... if that would help.

doing all this i have found a way to exploit bees and skip breeding. using mob duplicator from industrial foregoings. dont know if bees should be black listed or not.

commented

Ah yes, we need to update our exclude lists.

ive managed to get all bees from beeper up to mutate. but the netherite bees dont seem to be mutating my ender bees. they both have flowers and access to same hive. i have to replace the ender bees regularly as they keep dying when they fly into wither rose lol. face palm (took a long time. but eventually after making a bigger box one finally converted. def not easy, but all recipies confirm to work with mutation. just maybe jei should show bee in mutation instead of eggs to reduce confusion.)
ps. i was doing bee to bee mutions, not alloys.

I agree the display in JEI can be a bit confusing. Best way to view the data is through the Beepedia, since it actually brings everything together under a given bee.

when making a apiary, the t1 hive accepts t4 hive as a crafting item instead just nests. could cause some issues

Pack version? This should be fixed in 0.4.12.

Traceability is always good. I don't think there's been any change here, and I think I want to wait for RB's rewrite to get finished before I waste Max's time trying to take another swipe at it - I'm a little afraid that even if he gets it working, stuff will change internally during the rewrite and we'll just have to figure it out again.

I think the real solution is a wiki page covering the breeding material; I've already got (most) of the charts put together, but I need to write the content to go along with it - life is intruding at the moment. Once I've actually got it written up I was going to hand it off to Mute to post.

I think I've actually mentioned this with the resrouceful bees devs, the mod should update, but the documentation for this stuff would be incredibly useful. The beepedia in game is the best source of this as of now.

Any update on sharing the diagrams and adding additional JEI info @TemperedFool? Asking here instead of Discord for traceability ๐Ÿ˜„

Sounds good! :)

Because of the hackiness of Entities-in-JEI (unless JEI somehow resolves that...) the Beepedia is always going to work better. I also have seen some commits over there indicating they're working on improvements. Due to the nature of RB, I think pack-specific documentation is the way really, just need to find some time to do it!

Wiki page is up:

https://github.com/NillerMedDild/Enigmatica6/wiki/Working-with-Bees

This should handle this for now; with RB 1.0 should come some improvements that will also help, but that is coming Some Dayโ„ข๏ธ. Think we can call this closed.

@wolfdances Wither Bees are created by a Netherite Bee mutating an Ender Bee. This can be seen around line 30 of the following file:

JEI info is attached to the bee spawn eggs.
