Any chance we added a wrench tag to the hammer? That could maybe be the cause

I can't seem to reproduce this, could you provide some more information about the hammer please?

I may have encountered the same error as OP.

  • When trying to open a Forged Container my game would crash
  • I determined that the two block Forged Container had generated across a chunk border
  • For me the left block was reporting as tetra:forged_container and the right block was reporting as minecraft:cave_air
    • I guess technically when I was looking at it using F3 it was showing me the block behind it...
  • I didn't try to fix it, I just collected the container to use in my base
