Why should it be in the modpack
- OptiFine has an option for this - parity
- A potentially better way to showcase shaders and high-resolution resource packs
Why shouldn't it be in the modpack
- While it is OptiFine parity, it is possible that most people don't know or care about it there either
- Minecraft is a blocky game, so increasing resolution does not usually give better detail even on 128x resource packs
- Bigger screenshots take much longer time to save to disk, which may cause missed moments
- When saved, the user may not have many places where sharing such images may be possible, usually sites have fixed file size/image dimensions requirements
- The existence of the feature and its keybind must be learned
Voting
Should the mod be removed? Vote or argument below!
๐ This mod should be removed from FO
๐ This mod should be kept in FO
- If you think the mod idea is great to keep included, but the mod being voted for is not, vote to keep the mod. Then, find or create an issue for a replacement mod with your idea and discuss there.
- You can simply interact with emoji, but arguments are considered more valuable and hold more weight in the final decision.
- Mod size, platform and other metadata are not an important criteria for this vote. You just focus on the idea and purpose.
- Everyone can vote, regardless of if you've used the mod in the past.
If it's Optifine parity then I'd keep it. Does Optifine map it to a seperate button or override the vanilla screenshot? I use this mod for nicer screenshots and preventing metadata of my screen resolution.
Optifine overrides vanilla to my knowledge, if that option is enabled (it is disabled by default).
FO, however, should have the separate hotkey enabled by default for discoverability, otherwise people may not even know the mod is there. If the mod is kept, at least one additional reminder is planned to remind users the mod exists.
