Your Pack Version
2.7.0
Your Proposal
Change quest book so quest completion depends on completing the quest without discovering the quest.
There are several quests, notable in early game are:
-
Crafting Time
doesn't remember you've crafted several crafting tables already. Suggestion is either to make it remember or change crafting to retrieval. -
Your First Tool
if you delay long enough you have a quest with several stages. The main stage(make pick axe, shovel, hatchet) is marked as complete already, but the quest book doesn't remember intermediate stage of you holding pick axe head in inventory.
Your Goal
It gets rid of doing the same thing twice, even though it's useless. For example right now I've already moved from flint to iron tools. However to advance quest book, I need to a) get TC2 pattern from the box b) place them and flint into tool station c) craft components d) put patterns back in the box, e) throw components away - they are so useless at this point, that it's better to have more inventory space.
Your Vision
It would make more fun to replay the pack without doing unneeded chores of repeating what was done already. For example, I like playing the pack on hardcore, where dying early is common, it's not worth to advance through quests as soon as they become available. Eg once I died to an exploded sheep, another time to a squid, both in less than 1 in-game day. Not exactly a time worth to go through quests before stabilizing the base.
Compare and contrast Your First Tool
to Getting the (char)coal
. The latter tells to acquire 104 raw bricks and 104 processed bricks. However these tasks are optional, because they are intermediate and not the goal itself, which ought to be the case in Your First Tool
(it's not called Your first tool part
). Once I reach the coke oven quest, I don't have to build yet another coke oven: the book knows the quest was completed even though before opening the quest, at no point I had 104 bricks in my inventory(they were quickly converted to blocks and blocks were placed on the map without holding large amount of them in inventory). This didn't break the quest, which is the case with Your First Tool
.
