Your Expectation

Started a new game to avoid issues with game changes and build a more efficient base now that I know what I'm doing. I opened the quest book to get started on progress.

The Reality

The quest tab was empty. No quests or even categories for quests. I closed the world and opened it up only for it to crash. Recreating another new world ends up with an empty quest book as well. Reinstalling the pack solved the crash issues but the book is still empty. What is interesting is my original world I made a few updates ago still has access to the quests.

Your Proposal

Since the old world still has the quests but the new world doesn't there might be files not being created when a new world is created.

Final Checklist

  • I have searched this issue tracker and there is nothing similar already. Posting on a closed issue saying the bug still exists will prompt us to investigate and reopen it once we confirm your report.
  • I can reproduce this problem consistently by follow the exact steps I described above, or this does not need reproducing, e.g. recipe loophole.
  • I have asked other people and they confirm they also have this problem by follow the exact steps I described above, or this does not need reproducing, e.g. recipe loophole.

If you're using technic launcher try a different launcher.

Is there an issue with technic that would cause this? I've never had an issue like this before with Technic.

Quests had a format update, but Technic doesn't remove old configs when you update the instance, which causes the questbook to break. To fix this you would have to make a new instance for it.

So, delete the old configs when I reinstall? I will try this.

In the meantime, an alternate fix I found was copying the old world's Better questing files to the new world and entering the reset command. However, this would require the old-world files, and cheats enabled. Also, if there are changes to Better Questing, this might cause issues down the line.

Deleting all the old files before reinstallation worked.
